My First Tattoo

My First Tatoo

Hey, so I’m on vacation right now in Florida and it’s pretty sweet, except that the red tide is here which is a weird phenomenon so basically I’m not going in the water because it’s kinda gross. But anyways as you can see from the picture above I also got a tattoo which is pretty sweet and cool looking. Let me know what you think of it I can send you better pictures if you want. But basically that’s all thats been going on I miss yall!

Pearl Street

Last Saturday my dad and I took the bus up to Boulder and rode our bikes around the city. After getting home we had biked a total of 25 miles. This picture was taken of my first experience on the Pearl Street Mall. It was very fun, but all together weird. Some people in Boulder are just weird, but it makes for some peculiar entertainment. Other than this juggling comedian riding a unicycle, there was a couple guitar players around, a girl playing the violin, several people beat box/singing, a man playing the piano, a man playing a trumpet, a couple playing didgeridoos (which are huge African horns kinda things), and someone playing a tambourine. I loved every bit of the experience.

Except for that life has been so-so. I am excited that in one month from yesterday I will be 18. I would also like to set up a huge bike ride for everyone to do and invite their friends to. I’m gonna try to set it up soon so be on the lookout for my announcement of when and where and such. I believe that is all I am going to say for now. Bauschwa!

Not So Much!

small shorts

So I went shopping last night and found these shorts, but I’m thinking they are to small? I was told they will stretch with wear so I got the 24 month old size! Well except for having to go to Wal-mart two times in one week life has been tolerable. I have made an important decision: I will be in no ones pirate ship, but will live in my own land. Because of this decision I have had to elude being assassinated on several occasions, but due to my nun-chucking skillZ I am still alive and well. Well I need to go, so I will try to post again soon, but I’m not promising anything! Bauschwuay!

Extra Goodness!

June 13, 2007

Hi all, well I think I win an award for least posts on a blog! But I am excited today because of Starbucks new Iced Orange Mocha! Like seriously I think I am going to pray that they keep this drink forever because I have never liked anything better. So the reason behind such enthusiasm is the fact that I love orange anything. Seriously, anything that tastes like, smells like, or anything else orange I really like, (though I cannot say it is my favorite color). So mix that with coffee and chocolate and call it blissful scrumptiousness! Well that primarily is my thoughts for today so if you want to make me happy take me out for coffee at Starbucks and buy me an Orange Mocha and I will promise to always be your friend! Also you should call me because having a phone is only exciting when you received calls on it and talk about absolutely everything and nothing at the same time.

Long Time no Post

April 24, 2007

Hey all! Well I finally am posting again, I just finished school for the summer. The lack of school for the last few days has been sweet. I don’t have anything super great to post about, but I’ll just go for it anyway.

Today has been a pretty cool day so far. This morning I had to take the bus to work, and that was not so very good with the horrible rain and wind. I like cloudy and rainy weather, but not when I have to walk a distance in cold rain. I had an umbrella and jacket, but I was SO cold walking down the street to work! Work was nice, however, because it was fairly slow today so it wasn’t so crazy as usual. I also got off like twenty minutes early, which is unheard of for me, and that was fun because I just ate some good food, and read my new book.

What is my new book you ask? Well good question, it is called “The Children of Hurin.” It is written by J.R.R. Tolkien, and is part of a collection of unfinished stories that his son has edited. It is part of the “Lord of the Ring” books, but is about what happened before that time period. So far I like it, and Tolkien’s style is simply astounding. He has such a way of painting characters with vividness and creativity. It reminds me of some of C.S. Lewis’ works, but Tolkien adds an extra flavor to his stories. His works are seemingly tangible, yet profound. Having finished school, I plan on reading a bunch this summer.

I also plan on doing some writing this summer. Mostly poems, but I want to try my hand at some short stories and such, after being inspired by Bryce. Check out my fictionpress, and anticipate more to be published soon. I am also hoping to stay busy doing a bit of web design with Jeremy. He is teaching me a new php application, and we may start work for some potential clients when Jeremy is finished with school for the summer. Another hope this summer is that I will have time to practice some electric guitar. I’ve really been wanting to get better, and a couple friends might help me with some new stuff. I also need to do some serious shopping pretty soon. That will be fun if I ever get to it, and if anyone knows how to hem, I have a pair of VonDutch jeans that are to long, and really would like to wear them.

I am getting sick also. It just started yesterday so I’m not going to like that, but at least I can sleep more now. Well I believe that I am done with this post, but it has been fun, and I will try to post quite a bit. Also expect some interesting posts on the spiritual disciplines. Ta ta for now!

Darkness Loses a Victim

March 3, 2007

Colossians 1:13 “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” NKJV

After reading this verse, several days ago, I have been amazed at the profoundness of in its truth. These words have infused my praise for God since reading them. It paints a picture in my mind that is beyond verbal expression. Not only have we been saved from Hell, but I believe this verse is illustrating what we have been saved from on this earth as well.

In John MacArthur’s commentary on Colossians, he explains that the word “delivered” is from the word “ruomai,” which means “to draw to oneself.” This is such an awesome illustration of God rescuing us and drawing us to Himself. It is more amazing in light of the fact that no one, apart from grace, searches for God. We were all hopelessly in defiance to the will of God. Yet, through by the work of the Holy Spirit, God drew us to himself.

Another awe inspiring aspect of God’s calling is how insignificant we are compared to Him. Recently I was listening to a message by Joshua Harris, and he spent a substantial amount of time explaining what we, as humans, are in comparison to the omniscient, omnipresent, almighty God, King of Kings, Creator of heaven and earth. Our lives are but a whisper of time in comparison to his infinite presence.

Another interesting point that MacArthur mentions is that at the time of our new birth we are immediately freed from the clutches of Satan. The theological term for this instantaneous transformation is “justification.” This deliverance is not a slow process, as with sanctification. In light of this truth, Christians must live as having been saved from the power of darkness.

The word “power” is translated from is “exousias.” This word can also be translated “jurisdiction” or “domain.” This brings to my mind a picture of humans experiencing hate, depression, and loneliness without hope. We all, at some point, were under the authority of Satan unable to change our ways or experience true love. Jesus overcame this power once and for all by his death and resurrection, and the Holy Spirit enables us to experience that victory, if we believe in it. 1 John 4:4 “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

One of the definitions of the word “conveyed,” as defined by dictionary.com, is “To serve as a medium of transmission for.” This is a good word to describe how Jesus, through his death, is the medium, or bridge, to the kingdom of God. This is not only speaking about our eternal home, heaven, but it also is speaking of our experience while still on this earth. God allows us to experience love, He gives us a hope, and He empowers us, through the Holy Spirit, to experience the transforming work of sanctification. It is important that we live according to these truths in our daily lives, and let the gospel overflow in our lives. This will present itself as we are compelled to share the gospel, which can literally be defined “good news,” give God the first fruits of our income, spend time with God daily, worship God, and serve others. With the correct perspective we will joyfully do all these, not to gain salvation, but in appreciation of salvation. As Martin Luther said, “Good works do not make a man good, but a good man does good works.”

Well that is what I have been thinking about, and I was amazed at the grace of God in my life in this. Without God I would never praise Him for His work. Thank you for reading, and don’t forget to comment!

Disparate Through Grace

February 18, 2007

Well I suppose this is the christening post for this blog. I pray that God would use this blog to glorify Himself, despite my attempts to draw attention to myself.

If you noticed the title to this post “Disparate Through Grace,” and wondered what the word disparate means, dont feel simple-minded. I happen to stumble across this word on thesaurus.com, one of my favorite websites, else I would have never known what it meant.

As previously mentioned, this is my first post on this blog. You may also be interested to know that this is my first blog. I am also not good at blogging about how my day was, so I’m probably going to stick to posting that which is on my mind. The first thing on my mind, at this moment, is David’s sermon today. In particular, our calling to encourage one another by pointing out specific areas in someone’s life that God has been working in, and the fruit that is being produced as a consequence of the work of God. After the message I decided to apply this point right away. After doing so I was encouraged and inspired to continue this practice. I plan to continue this application by spending time in prayer asking that God would show me what He has been doing in others lives. After seeing the fruit in someone’s life, I plan on communicating that to the individual as soon as possible. Whether that be an email, phone call, or in person, I think it is important that I act immediately, so that I don’t lose my fervor, or simply forget about it. Here is a link to listen to the message. It is awesome to peruse the many different facets of the gospel!
